Beginning 02 December 2024, City of Tshwane is launching a city-wide challenge to gather young people’s ideas for the city’s planning.
Students will build virtual proposals in Minecraft Education with their vision for City of Tshwane’s future. These proposals will then be submitted for consideration by a panel of judges.

Schools Reinventing Cities is an innovative collaboration between Minecraft Education and C40 Cities designed to empower students worldwide to devise solutions for a sustainable and resilient urban future. This program encourages young learners to share their creative ideas with classmates, teachers, and local leaders, fostering a sense of community engagement and environmental stewardship.
Minecraft, a widely popular open-world game, serves as a platform for creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment limited only by imagination. Unlike the standard version, Minecraft Education is tailored for classroom use, featuring tools like classroom mode and assessment capabilities that enhance the educational experience. C40 Cities is a global network of nearly 100 mayors from leading cities, united in their commitment to urgent climate action. These mayors are implementing science-based strategies to combat the climate crisis, aiming to limit global warming to 1.5°C and to foster healthy, equitable, and resilient communities.
